Transitional Justice in the News, Oct.15

Posted by Helena Cobban at 22:10 | TrackBack

Here are the headlines from the October 15 listing of "Transitional Justice in the News", from the TJ Network:

Bosnia and Herzegovina: Working Group Identifies Over 17,000 Responsible for Srebrenica Massacre
Chad: Pressure Increases for Habre Extradition
Colombia: Court Orders Reparations for 1997 Massacre
Democratic Republic of Congo: Mass Graves Found, Rwandan Army Suspected of
    Killings
Rwanda: Radio Station Director Pleads Not Guilty
Serbia and Montenegro: Scorpions Charged for Srebrenica Killing
Sierra Leone: Special Court Short on Money
    Uganda: ICC Issues First Indictments
International Justice/Spain: Spanish Court Rules in Favor of Universal Jurisdiction
Contrary to what I wrote in this earlier post on TJF, these listings are produced not weekly but fortnightly. And though they are posted first (it seems) on the TJNetwork's listserv, they are also subsequently posted on the ICTJ's website, where they are archived in much more legible form in its "Newsletter" area.

Also, the compiler of these news articles is not Victoria Baxter, but Patrick J. Pierce. Patrick has a fairly easy-to-use, country-by-country log of all the listings on "TJ in the News", and he and I are trying to figure out how to make it available here. In the meantime, as I list the headings of the items in the compilation every fortnight on TJF, you can start to use the "Search" button here to find where they are.
